I’m Just Average Teen Me. This week’s Teens Tell Their Story task was to write about World News. I didn’t really want to do anything sad, or depressing because I want to keep my blog a happy place (I think it is at the moment)! So I went on BuzzFeed, and found an article about how a writer (who also likes to troll the internet) tweeted a tweet with a fact, that wasn’t exactly true.
If you don’t already know, they have children called Jaden And Willow, which makes it seem like they were named after their parents according to this tweet. JadeN and WillO. Now, loads of people responded, with stuff like “How could we be so blind” and “I have known for years” but little did they know, that it was all made up!
There was another twitter account, that tweeted the same tweet, without giving credit to the original tweeter. This is actually called plagiarism. And they really should give the original tweeter credit. But it’s really obvious that it’s been copied if the actual fact isn’t even true.
Basically, this can teach us two things.
- Don’t copy other people’s tweets or stuff like that…
- Don’t trust everything you see on the internet
That last one is really important. Anyone in the world can make a fake account, post fake tweets/images and make someone think that they are someone that they aren’t. Just quite recently here on wordpress, there were people posting inappropriate pictures onto their blog on the teen tag. And people even today on twitter and other social medias, post as someone that they aren’t. Particularly famous people. Just make sure that you are following the right people, if they are famous, then they should be verified, and have lots of followers…
And if you feel like someone has copied your tweet, there is an account called @PlagiarismBad (Click it for the link) for you to message, and they can try and do something about it.
Thank you so much for reading. I didn’t expect this post to turn into an online-safety one! But I hope you liked it anyways! Make sure to like and follow (Really nearly at 50 now!) if you enjoy my blog and leave any thoughts and suggestions in the comments.
