Body Confidence

Hi,

I’m Just Average Teen Me. Today I wanted to talk about something that I’m pretty sure all girls (and maybe boys) will run into at some point in their life – Body Confidence.

As a teenage girl, there is a lot of pressure to look perfect, and attractive to the guys, for some girls anyway. I’ve found that I’m not in that kind of group of people. But that doesn’t mean that I might sometimes feel uncomfortable in my own body. The constant push of the media is definitely a bad thing. Photoshop annihilates the real appearance of a beautiful person, and replaces it with something fake. Celebrities everywhere are having surgery to change how they look.

For me, body confidence has never been too much of an issue, although I am what some might describe as not very top heavy. But that doesn’t matter. What does matter, is that I am fine with that.

Ask yourself, if everyone looked the same, would there be such thing as beauty?

Diversity is what makes us stand out. What makes us different. What makes us beautiful. My eyes are a mix of blue and green, which I haven’t seen in too many people around me; it makes me different. I also have very long hair. Embrace the things that make you you. And realise that although you might feel like parts of you aren’t ‘famous model’ level, somebody will see you like that. Even the so-called most beautiful people in the world will have insecurities, things they don’t like. Just like you.

Don’t let people tell you that you’re not perfect, because it’s your imperfections that make you perfect! Your beautiful personality outshines their ugly one! Nobody has any right to make you feel bad in yourself. Nobody.

Makeup can boost your confidence. And that should be why you wear it. It’s certainly why I do. But if you’re wearing makeup to look better for someone else, you might want to rethink. If a person really likes you, they’ll like you for the natural you. Flaws and all.

Basically, the point of this post is that you should be comfortable as you are, no matter how difficult it is sometimes. Wear the clothes you love. Go to the places you love. And love you!

A quote that I love is:

“You are imperfect. Permanently and inevitably flawed. And you are beautiful!”

-Amy Bloom

To end this post, I would love it if you commented something that you like about YOUR body! Not what you get the most compliments about; what you like the best about you.

Thank you SO much for reading! Make sure to like and follow if you like my blog and leave any thoughts or suggestions in the comments (along with your favourite aspect of yourself!)

BYE! 😀

Hi, I'm an anonymous British blogger, hiding behind the name Awkwardsaurus. I'm a fan of Sherlock, which you should probably know. Oh, and I'm the kind of person that replies with "you too" when someone says "happy birthday". Hope to see you around ;)

  1. Was about to write same topic these days, but you go it first. We should all respect one another and push those first impression feelings aside.

here is a cute video for you on this subject:

  2. This is a very Jewish take on the issue but I was at a lecture given by a Rabbi recently and he was talking about something else but he said you have to look after yourself and there’s nothing wrong with make up or dressing nicely but, at the end of the day, you are perfect. You might be imperfectly perfect but you have to be perfect because G-d made you.
