2 YEAR BLOGIVERSARY

HELLO HELLO HELLO

POP THE CHAMPAGNE AND BLOW UP THE BALLOONS – IT’S MY BLOGIVERSARY.

Maybe without the champagne, though, since I’m 15. . 🙂

2 years ago today, I did a post called “Hello World“, under the name Just Average Teen Me. I know, the name is hella corny, and still to this day makes me want to curl up into a ball and be buried in a hole. Good thing I changed it then, I guess?

Anyways, after making my blog, at the age of 13, I thought it’d be a place where I had posts to write constantly, and ideas flowing heavier than Niagara Falls. If you’ve been here recently (and if any of you are actually left?) you’ll know I’m very very unorganised here… I’m crap at remembering to post, let alone finding the ideas, to put it frankly.

The first year or so, I had a tight schedule of when to post and when not to post, and sometimes that meant being up at 10:30pm (I was 13 okay that was late for a school-night) writing the most rushed and un-related-to-my-life posts I’ve ever seen. Hopefully, you’ll agree I’m past that now, and I try to blog about things that actually hold some shape or form of meaning to what’s going on with me? By the start of 2017, I’d changed my blogging alias to Awkwardsaurus. It fits me a million times better, and makes me want to cry of cringe slightly less.

I mentioned this last year, and I’ll mention it again. After starting my blog, I experienced a few panic attacks: the first in October, and a few others up until now. Without people to talk to, I wouldn’t have recovered as smoothly as I did. I took to WordPress, and told you all how I felt, what caused it, and the fears I had of something like it happening again. I couldn’t talk to anyone else about it, because I felt like they’d just brush it off and say it was nerves (a lot of people really don’t take mental health seriously). You listened, and you helped me. If you hadn’t, I’d have had all that cooped up inside, and it probably would have made my situation even worse.

Blogging has been useful to me, for all the reasons I never thought it would. I thought it’d be easy to gain readers, and have lots of comments as well as likes, but it’s more than that. When I started blogging, I had crazy issues with my self-confidence. I was terrified to even talk to teachers, ordering food or drink from a barista made me shake, and I was constantly convinced that my friends didn’t like me (kind of happened BUT THAT’S BESIDES THE POINT). Obviously, there are a bunch of other factors that played into it, but since then (2015, oh my god that sounds like so long ago) I’ve flourished into a more confident, and happier version of who I was then. Sure, standing in front of the school year still makes me blush and tremble, but I’ve started doing things for me, that I wouldn’t have been able to do before. I’ve made more friends. thanks to not being scared to go and talk to people, I’ve bought things I wouldn’t have before (menstrual cup, anyone?) and I’ve switched to a skirt for school.

If you’re thinking about starting a blog, and you haven’t done already, I can’t stress how much I think you should. Even if just a small part of you thinks it’d be fun, or a way to pass the summer (that’s why I set up this one), just go for it, set up a website here on WordPress, and I’ll be more than happy to help you out!

Anyways, thanks to everyone who’s been stuck in this for the long-haul, and to new readers, too. I know, I’m a pain to keep up with but it means the world to me.

Until next time

See You Next Year, Blogmas + What I Got For Christmas 2016

Hi,

I’m Just Average Teen Me. Christmas Day has passed, which is obviously a little heartbreaking, but it also means that Blogmas has come to a close too. I really enjoyed getting into the festive spirit here on the blog, and hopefully, you all enjoyed reading them just as much! Thanks a bunch for being supportive of the posts!

So, onto today’s post. Since Christmas was just two days ago, I thought I’d share some of the things I got for Christmas. It might strike you that I’m not the most stereotypical teenage girl (if you hadn’t already got that), so I won’t be rambling about eye-shadow palettes and fancy new shoes.

Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit

Although my Harry Potter obsession has died down a slight bit over the last seven years, I still do, and will always love it. I don’t think there’s been a year since my love for the stories began that I haven’t had something related to Harry Potter for Christmas. Anyways, I’m super excited to play this, especially with Rachel, who’s the biggest Hazza P. fan I know.

A Box of ‘Girly’ Stuff

So, I think this is the point where my mum has no idea what to buy, so she just throws some bits and pieces into a tin. Inside was some pocket tissues, nail polish, ‘spot zapping gel’, stick concealer and a peel-off Cucumber face mask (which I have used before, and I absolutely loooooove).

Moto E3

My phone was slowly dying, and the contract ended this Christmas anyway, so I kind of knew that I’d be getting this phone, and had chosen it between the two options I had. It’s the third generation of the previous phone I had, which was the first generation, and there’s definitely been some improvements! It also came with some big, over-ear headphones which is nice! 😀

OUAT Season 5 DVD

You’ll more than likely know that I’m a huge fan of OUAT (Once Upon A Time), and I currently have all of the seasons available on DVD. If you have spare time over the holidays, I definitely recommend checking it out! 😉

Infinity Rises and Infinity Reborn – S.Harrison

In March, I was given the first book of the Infinity trilogy for my birthday. The plot had me hooked throughout, and I contemplated buying the next books with my own money, which is pretty big since I hate spending it unless I need to. I ended up waiting until Christmas, and I’m so freaking excited to read the last two books!

Fifth Harmony 7/27 UK Tour Poster

I’m not sure this counts as a poster, since it’s cardboard, but it has a picture of the 7/27 album cover, with all of the UK tour dates beneath, the whole thing surrounded by a thick black border. It’s pretty niiiiice, and I just need to put it up on my wall!

A Truckload of Chocolate

Over the entire Christmas holidays, I’ve been given insane amounts of chocolate, and I worked out yesterday, that in the last 4 days, I’ve eaten over 3000 calories of just Lindt Lindors, excluding any other chocolate! Talk about food coma! 😀

Mermaid Tail Blanket

You might remember that this was on my Christmas list this year. It’s basically a woolly blanket in the shape of a mermaid tail, so you put your legs inside, and feel like a mermaid. Mine is a blue/turquoise colour with hints of green, white and orange, and it’s super pretty! 😀

LOTS OF PYJAMAS

As Grandma always does, she bought us a few sets of pyjamas for the next year. I will admit, she allowed us to choose them ourselves, so I went to Primark with two of my sisters (one older and one younger) and picked out three sets. I prefer it that way because I knew that I’d love them! ❤

That’s most of it! What did you get for Christmas?

BYE! 😀

Attempting To Review Something Beauty

Hi,

I’m Just Average Teen Me. As you’ll more than likely already know, I’m not your typical beauty blogger, although I do sometimes keep you updated on new purchases and whatnot. Today, though, I am trying to venture into the world of reviewing a beauty product! To be specific, the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer.

Before we get into the post, I’ve done a good bit of researching on what to include in here, but let me know if I miss anything or if you have any questions!

First off: Packaging. This one is by far my favourite packaging for concealer I’ve ever had! Instead of the standard cylinder tube with a black lid, this one is more of a cuboid shape, with a shiny silver lid and frosty plastic. It looks very pretty (not to mention durable) so if you’re a fan of photography, you could definitely take some nice photos of it! It’d be nice if you could see it, wouldn’t it…?

concealer
Here we go! Pretty, isn’t it?

So, application wise, there are good things, and things that I would rather have differently. Let’s start with the good, shall we? It applies so smoothly, and doesn’t make the skin flake at all, which I’ve had quite a problem with around my nose beforehand. It’s definitely hydrating, as it says on the bottle/tube – I’m not sure what to call it. HOWEVER (of course there’s a however), the coverage isn’t fantastic. If you, like myself, sometimes get rather red blemishes, you might want a backup concealer because the coverage isn’t quite full. Thankfully, I have some of my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer left, so when the Himalayas made a sudden appearance on my forehead, I wasn’t left to face the world like that. 😀

For anyone looking for a concealer to last while you’re in school, this is definitely a great idea. By the time I’m home, it’s still all there, unless it’s been super hot, and my face has been sweating. And that’s without a powder; let’s be real, nobody wants to have to buy powder. It’ll make me sneeze.

As far as looks go, it’s definitely pretty good (excuse my very non-beauty terminology). It blends into the skin very easily, and the colour was a great match. For all my pale girls, this one works! If your school has a strict uniform and makeup policy (mine does 😦 ), this one will be your best friend! It doesn’t cake at all, so it looks super natural, and teachers probably won’t notice. 😉

I bought mine from Superdrug, for £7.99, which is pretty good, considering that the bottle has a lot more than my typical concealers would have. It works out to about £10.20 per ml.

Hopefully, you’ve enjoyed this new little adventure into the realm of beauty blogging that I’ve took you on today… Let me know what you think, and if you have any questions!

The New Kid

Hi,

I’m Just Average Teen Me. And no, I haven’t moved schools. But someone has. To my school. And I need some advice…

I think he might like me… Not just a friendly way. I have no idea if he does, and personally I’d rather he didn’t… I’ll tell you what’ happened so far

First of all, he came to school on Thursday (Not last, the one before) and I didn’t know who he was at that point. But turns out he’s in my year half. And a lot of my lessons. So, he was put with Tyler (voila! Another codename! 🙂 ) who I’m not entirely sure if I would call him a friend… But I’m fine talking to him, he’s a nice person etc. Through Tyler, we saw each other around at lunch times while I was with The Squad (My friendship group) and I’ve realised, he is really shy and quiet. I know that there are people like that but usually with friends you’d think they’d open up and talk a bit? He doesn’t seem to even talk much with Tyler when he’s around us… But could that be because my squad are that intimidating? There are 5 of us! 😀

Sometimes, he seems to say things, related to stuff that I like… Like Once Upon A Time, which I have been overheard talking about several times 🙂 . And when I asked if he watched it, he said no….  And sometimes, I see him walking around where me and my friends eat at lunch – on his own… Could that be because he wants to see us? Or not? Because that’s not anywhere near where his friends stay at lunch…

Plus, sometimes I catch him looking at me during lessons, but he looks down nervously when see him… It’s really awkward. I don’t know how to deal with these things! I can’t exactly just ask him, because what if he said yes?!? And it’s only been a week, I could just be jumping to conclusions very quickly… Hopefully!

If I am being totally honest on this blog (which I am), I will admit, that even thinking that someone might like like me is making me feel prettier. I’ve never felt like a pretty person, that anyone would want to date… But the thought that someone might, is terrifying – especially because I’d rather not date him! – and I feel more like a pretty girl… In a way, it gives me hope that someone, somewhere might like me, and I like them! I’m not sure… I’ve never had to deal with stuff like this! Except one time where there were rumours that a really annoying kid liked me, but he got expelled so I’m safe from the awkwardness of that situation! Phew! But seriously, have any of you guys ever been in a situation like this? What happened? And do you think he actually likes me? I’ll post updates if you really want… But for now I think I’ll leave everything as it is and not interfere with it all… Just came up with a codename for him: Raphael… I know its crazy… But I’ll be using it! Plus it’s easy to remember!

Thank you SO much for reading! Make sure to like and follow if you enjoy my blog and leave any thoughts and suggestions in the comments below! Oh and have you got any ideas that I could use for weekly features here on my blog? Like something I will do every Thursday? Or Monday? Or any day of the week??? Please let me know what you think! I’m stuck for ideas! 😀

Who I Am And Why I’m Here

Hi,

I’m Just Average Teen Me! As you may already know, there is a blogging u / blogging101 going on here on WordPress. And since I’m a new blogger, I thought this would be a good chance to improve my blog and get it on track. Maybe even gain a few followers! Anyways blogging101 send you a blog to complete within the day (you don’t have to do every one of them but I thing I’m going to give them all a go)! And today’s blog is a ‘Who am I and Why I’m here’. I know I’ve already done somekind of post like this already (It was my first one – Hello World) but let’s face it. That wasn’t the best. So today I thought I’d re-try this blog post to give you some insight on why I started Just Average Teen Me.

First of all, if you don’t know me, I’m Just Average Teen Me, a teen blogger living in the UK. If you would like to know some random facts about me, you could go check out my previous blog post – 10 Facts about Me. So, I started this blog because I thought I needed to get my thoughts out, being totally myself, without the fear that someone I know would find it and judge me…. That’s why this blog is anonymous.  And, the thought of writing in a diary is pointless to me. You write words, maybe to be looked back on, that will never get a response. Unless you’re like Anne Frank and get it published all over the word. But I’m not Anne Frank. So….. I decided to start a blog. Also, because I don’t have too much to do during this summer holidays.

In this blog, I will be blogging about personal life things, maybe a few blogs featuring some of my favourite things. But mostly girly things, thoughts and problems. So if you’re looking for someone to update you on the latest football scores – you couldn’t have come to a more useless blog 🙂 . But if you’re a teenage girl who likes to chat, you have definitely come to the right blog.

Via my blog, I would love to connect with other bloggers – and viewers – from all around the world. Like a little community with people from all around the world in this teeny, tiny part of the HUGE internet 🙂 . So far, I have had views from the UK (that’s where most of my views come from), USA and the Philippines. I never thought that I would get any views outside of the UK (let alone IN the UK…..), but the thought of having friends from all around the world is just so exciting, I can’t help but smile thinking about it!

If I keep my blog for the next year, I would like to reach 30 followers, and 100 views. Most of all, I want to have developed a friendly community for teen girls (or other people) to chat and share our thoughts with each other. I think we can do it! Especially now that I’ve started blogging 101. By the way, It lasts until the end of August and I won’t be posting at weekends…. I don’t think….

Anyways thank you so much for reading this far, Sorry it’s a bit lengthy but…. At least it’s better than my original ‘Hello World’

Bye!! 🙂 xxx
