10 FEEL-GOOD MOVIES

Hello there, again! For today’s post, I thought I’d share some of my favourite feel-good movies (duh, you read the title… or did you?). Let’s get into it, since this post will probably end up quite long!

Letters to Juliet

ltj

This one is a recent favourite of mine, since I only actually watched it a couple weeks ago. Nonetheless, I love it so much, and I’ll definitely be rewatching in the future! This film follows the journey of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) around Rome on a pre-honeymoon with her busy fiance. It explores how love has no age, and how it’s never too late to find your soulmate – trust me, it’s adorable.

Mean Girls

MG_C1143-21.JPG

“I’m sorry that people are so jealous of me… but I can’t help it that I’m popular.” Mean Girls has a place in the hearts of so many girls and women (men and boys, too!) across the world, and for all the right reasons! It tells the story of how a, previously home-schooled, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) infiltrates the popular group of girls in her new high school, known as The Plastics.  It’s jam packed with witty one-liners, romance and everything you’d want in a chick flick!

Sleepless in Seattle

Obit-Nora Ephron-Appreciation

If you’re any sort of romance film fanatic, you’ll more than likely love this, and if you haven’t already seen it, you definitely should get around to it! Widower, Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) and his son Jonah move to Seattle, where Jonah calls into a radio talk show, asking to help find his dad a new wife. Little does he know, engaged journalist Annie Reed (Meg Ryan) is listening on the other end.

American Pie

ap

Much like Mean Girls (although a lot more scandalous), American Pie is a hilarious comedy movie, and a must watch for anyone older than 15! Four high school boys make a promise to each other, that they will lose their virginity by the night of prom. Along the way, there’s a bunch of awkward encounters, painfully cringey talks with parents and the funniest characters! It’s rated an 18, so if you’re younger than 14, I’d steer clear of this one for a few years!

Big

big

Another classic, starring Tom Hanks as 30-year-old Josh Baskin, after being transformed into an adult from being 12. It shows Josh as he meets all the experiences of adult life, from getting a job (even if he’s a toy tester) to romantic interests. A fun film for all the family to enjoy!

Tangled

tangled

Who doesn’t love a good Disney movie? Tangled is easily one of my favourites, and I’ve watched it countless times. If you really don’t know (I’m assuming most people do?), Tangled is the animated story of Rapunzel, a Princess stolen from her parents by Gothel, an ancient woman who uses the magical powers of Rapunzel’s hair to keep her young forever. While locked in a tower, Rapunzel meets thief Flynn Rider, who takes her on an adventure to see the lanterns released on her birthday (the same as the “Lost Princess“). The love story of Flynn and Rapunzel is easily my favourite from any Disney movie!

Mamma Mia

mm

Newly Engaged Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) feels that she needs to have her father with her while she marries her fiance, Sky (Dominic Cooper). The only problem is: there are three possible fathers. What’s the only reasonable thing to do? Invite all three of course! Donna (Meryl Streep), hasn’t seen any of the men since her younger years, so an encounter with them right before her daughter’s wedding is a recipe for near-disaster! If you’re a fan of musicals, this one is definitely for you!

The Internship

ti

Salesmen, Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) are struggling, so they apply for internships at Google, where they form an alliance with the younger “noogles” and go face to face with other teams in a range of challenges. It’s a must-see comedy if you ask me, although maybe not for anyone younger than 13, as the noogles take a trip to a pretty hectic party!

Why Him?

wh.jpg

Another hilarious comedy movie, about the parents of Stephanie (Zoe Deutch) who travel to California to meet her and her tech savvy (but extremely troublesome) boyfriend Laird (James Franco). Stephanie’s father, Ned, immediately doesn’t approve of her choice in men, despite staying in his luxury home for the holidays. I watched this one a while ago, soon after it was released in cinemas, and enjoyed every moment!

Guardians Of The Galaxy

gotg.jpg

Peter Quill, also known as Star Lord (Chris Pratt) forms a group with unlikely ‘friends’: Rocket, Gamora, Groot and Drax after stealing an orb, wanted by the villain – Ronan. The five discover the power of the orb, and embark on a mission to save the universe, ultimately naming themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s easily my favourite Marvel film, and I’ve watched it so many times!

And those are some of my favourite movies that I’ll drift to if I’m bored, or feel like I need a little something to cheer me up! What about you? What are some of your favourites?

BLOLIDAYS #6 – STATIONERY HAUL

IT’S THE LAST BLOLIDAYS POST OF THE YEAR! Hopefully you’ve been enjoying this series, since writing it has been so much fun.

This week’s post will be a look at what I bought on Thursday in preparation for the new school year! I decided not to get a few things, since some things like my pencil case and maths set were still in tact from last year. Saving money, why not?

School Bag

a1cb44524b40fd456b13c41d511910c2.image.292x400

I found this in wilkos, and it’s a lot less vibrant than last year’s fluorescent pink Under Armour backpack. The red leather kind of reminded me of Emma Swan’s red leather jacket in Once Upon A Time! And this was £12, reduced from £15.

Bic Pens

pen

I usually just get the normal ball point pens, but they only had those in blue or the packs with red, green, blue and black. So I opted for these, which are very similar, but have a grip, and clear lids. Can’t go to school without pens!

Staedtler Pencils

ppencil

I definitely bought these last year, and probably several times before. Staedtler are probably most of what people are buying for pencils, because they seem to be so much better quality than other pencils!

Shatterproof Ruler

ruler

I picked up the pink one, probably because it was on top of the pile (lazy, I know). I don’t usually go for full length rulers, but the folding ones always snap for me (I’ve never managed to keep one) so I ended up getting this! 😀

Highlighters

high

These are the same as the highlighters I bought last year, but I loved having a wide range of colours to chose from (especially in poetry analysis for English literature) so I got them again!

Filing Folder

Last year, I bought a blue one of these and it’s currently behind me, bulging with exam papers, revision notes, reports and so much other random stuff I’ve stuffed in there (seriously, I think my electric toothbrush instructions are in there). Since it was such a life saver, I decided to get another one for this year!

Butterfly Project Book

book

I love using notebooks for copying out notes from my school books, so the stuff I need to revise is all in one place. I’m never really a massive fan of online revision or flashcards, so revising in a notebook is definitely the way to go for me!  Not to mention, it has the little tabs on the side so you can separate the subjects!

I don’t know what to call these?

stack

I had two of these from last year (my sister had the other two) and it ended up not quite enough space for all my school books, so I picked up another set! 😀

And that’s most of what I bought this year!

Thanks again for reading and responding to this series, it’s been a lot of fun, and I guess we’ll see blolidays next year! 🙂

MONTHLY LOOK-AHEAD: SEPTEMBER 2017

Can you believe it’s September already!? It hardly seems that long ago since New Year, and it’s been 8 months! Anyway, as always, with a new month, comes a new Monthly Look-Ahead! With a new academic year starting, a lot of these will be school-based, but I might squeeze a few other things in, too!

Year 11

For those of you that don’t already know, high schools in the UK are separated into year groups numbered 7-11. Year 7s are 11 turning 12 when they start, and year 11s are 15 turning 16. So, 4 years after starting high school, my year group are finally the oldest! I don’t feel nearly as old as the Year 11s looked when I was in Year 7, it’s gone so fast!

Senior Badges

Something that comes with starting Year 11 is senior badges. Everyone in the year group gets a little badge to pin to their blazer, and it’s kind of a way for the younger years to know that we’re the oldest, and they can come to us for questions about school and whatnot, but I like to see it as a “Well done, you’ve made it this far – only a bit more to go” kind of thing.

New Timetable

While I won’t be getting a new set of teachers (only in subjects where last year’s teachers have left), I still get a new layout for my lessons. Last year, the timetable was actually pretty good, so I’m hoping this year is as well!

College Applications

No, not university. You might call it sixth form, but it’s basically the two years before university, where you take your A-Levels. It’s a big step up from high school, and I’m definitely nervous, but in the last few days I’ve been more excited than usual!

Romance Movies

I have a few romance movies that I want to watch sometime soon. One was recommended by a friend, called ‘Before I Go’ I think, and the other is Safe Haven. I’ve seen the trailer for Safe Haven and it looks great! Let me know some of your favourites and I’ll add them to the list!

Autumn

Leaves are already starting to change colour a tiny bit, and I’m so excited for Autumn. It’s easily one of my favourite seasons, where it’s darker in the evenings, colder, prettier colours – and I get to wear my warmer clothes. Who am I kidding, I’ve been wearing hoodies all summer anyway. This year, the UK hasn’t had the best Summer, if you ask me!

That’s everything I can think of for this month! For those of you wondering, I’ll be back at school on Monday, so only 3 days to go! 😦

BLOLIDAYS #5 – Summer Skincare Routinne

Can you believe next week will be the last week of these blolidays posts?

This week, I thought I’d share how I’ve been looking after my skin (trying to) during the summer. I’ll take you through some of the products I use on a daily basis, and some of the others that are more for specific days! Before we get into it, I’ll mention that my skin type confuses me a good bit, but I think it’s a combination of dry and oily. I tend to get quite oily on my forehead (hence the acne up there), and sometimes my nose, but I also get flaky skin around my nose too.

SO!

Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash

I bought this in a Clean & Clear kit a few months ago, and it’s very quickly become one of my staples. It claims to give softer skin from day 1, cleans skin and unblocks pores with gentle micro-beads. The beads are actually my favourite thing about this face wash, because they’re so good at removing dead skin, that could otherwise clog your pores. To use this, I usually start by putting my face in a sink of warm water, to open pores, using the wash all over my face, and then rinsing the suds off in the sink (this is really important, because you’ll need to make sure you get the beads off your face).

wp-1492803613204.jpg

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser

This is the second product in my kit, and I’ve been loving it just as much. On the front, it says that it moisturises and helps prevent spots and blemishes. There’s something called salycilic acid in this one, which I may have mentioned on my blog before, but it’s essentially an acid (bet you didn’t guess that) that dissolves the grime and skin debris that would usually cause acne. While I do still break out fairly often, I’ve definitely noticed that my skin has been doing a lot better! And it’s oil free, so in the hot summer months it won’t just be adding oils to the sweat on your face already, as a lot of moisturisers do!

Aloe Vera Gel

As you’ll probably know aloe vera is soothing and moisturising, which makes it super ideal for if your skin is recovering from a pretty bad breakout. I’ve just been using an aftersun gel, and it seems to bring down redness while also healing scarring a little quicker than it would without. 🙂

Salycilic Acid Spot Treatment Gel

As I mentioned above, salycilic acid is so good for treating acne, but sometimes a little bit in a moisturiser doesn’t cut it. So, I have a spot treatment gel, in a little tube. You can use it in more specific areas, like directly onto a spot, and if you keep re-applying it throughout the day, it seems to go down pretty quickly. I CAN’T FIND MINE AT THE MOMENT THOUGH!!!

Very Little/ No Makeup

With school not in session, I’ve had no reason to really wear makeup over the last five weeks, unless I’m going out with friends (it’s literally happened 3 times), so I haven’t been wearing makeup. Especially in the summer, it’s quite important to make sure you’re not clogging your face up with heavy makeup. If you do, though, make sure you wash it off before bed! Which brings me onto my next product…

Clean & Clear Deep Action Facial Wipes

This one says that it cleans deep down to prevent spots. It’s the third and final tool in my Clean & Clear kit, and I usually use it to take of the makeup I’ve been wearing in the day, so I haven’t used it too much recently.

And that’s most of what I’ve been doing for my skin this summer! What about you?

P.S. I’m sorry this post is up a day late; my Wi-Fi was being hella annoying yesterday!

20 QUESTIONS ABOUT ME TAG

Hello blogosphere!

Today, I was nominated by the lovely Regina aka Diversion3000 to do the 20 Questions About Me Tag. These questions seem quite fun to answer, hence the getting onto it so quickly (shocker, I’m actually posting – this is not a drill)

Since there don’t seem to be any rules for this tag, let’s get right to the questions, shall we?

1 – Are you named after anyone?

As for my first name, I don’t think I am. I know my middle name came from my mum’s sister, so my auntie.

2 – When was the last time you cried?

I’m actually a really emotional person, when I’m alone (I’m pretty good at keeping stuff to myself and haven’t actually cried in front of anyone in YEARS). Anyway, last time I cried was probably a few days ago when I watched Everything Everything. I loved it, but it did get me a lil bit emotional!

3 – Do you have kids?

If you count the many celebrities I’ve mentally adopted as my babies, then yes I have many kids. Biological kids? Hah, I’m 15 and the most interaction I’ve had with any guys I like is discussions about school… So no, I don’t have any kids.

4 – If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE – I’m kidding, I think? I actually think about this kind of thing a lot. Wondering how other people see me has always been kind of interesting, and I guess I’d have to be in the situation to know. To be quite honest, I honestly don’t know.

5 – Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I do indeed. A lot of the time it gets taken out of context and slaps me straight in the face, which isn’t great but it’s all good; I make myself laugh, at least.

6 – What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Posture. I seem to pick up on body language and how a person holds themselves in situations quite quickly. So, if I’m trying to talk to someone and they’re slouchy and uninterested, I’ll notice that pretty soon.

7 – What is your eye colour?

I never know whether to say blue or green. My eyes are mainly blue I guess, and that’s what it says on my passport, but I have a ring of green around my pupils, that then merges into the blue. It’s all very confusing, but my eyes are one of my favourite things about myself, physically. 🙂

8 – Scary movie or happy ending?

Happy ending, all the way. I’m not a fan of scary movies at all, and I’ll avoid them as much as I can. There’s something about happy endings that just put me in such a good mood, and fills my heart for quite a while after! I’m thinking of getting a post up about some of my favourite happy films, so keep an eye out! (shameless self-promo)

9 – Do you have any special talents?

I can binge entire TV shows in pretty short spaces of time and quickly become emotionally attached to celebrities and fictional characters…. I guess I can play guitar quite well , too.

10 – Do you have any pets?

I have two doggos, and a bunch of fish. 🙂

11 – What is your dream career?

See, I’m not exactly sure what I want to be when I’m older. I used to want to be a doctor, but I kind of grew out of that, since I’m not all too interested in it anymore, not to mention I’m quite squeamish. I know I want my job to have something to do with Geography, because that’s probably what I’ll be doing at university.

12 – Who was your first best friend?

Ohhh the nostalgia. When I was three or four, I met a girl at playgroup (similar to Kindergarten I think?), who I ended up being really close with until I was eleven. When we switched to high school, she changed so quickly, and we just drifted apart.

13 – How tall are you?

I’m 5’6, which is 167cm. I’m fairly average height, I think? I’m happy here though, and I haven’t grown in years so I reckon this is my final height 🙂

14 – How many countries have you visited?

England (I live here), Wales (I had to google if it was a country), USA (My dad’s family all live there, so we’ve visited them a few times, and I went to Disney World Florida once). And that’s all! I’ve not been abroad in almost 11 years, so I’m pretty nervous about getting on a plane!

15 – What was/is your favourite/worst subject in High School?

Currently, my favourite subject is Geography. It’s a super chilled out lesson (and we still manage to get work done?), and it’s topics that I’m actually interested in for the majority. A lesson that I really dread is English. I know, I’m a blogger, I should enjoy English, but I just really don’t like the way we have to learn it. The fun of reading and learning to write more creatively is kind of stripped away if you get me? SCREW YOU EDUCATION SYSTEM!

16 – What is your favourite perfume?

I don’t really use perfumes, but I have a Superdry body spray, and I LOVE it!

17 – What would you name your children?

I have given this quite a bit of thought actually, and I love the name Quinn for a girl. I used to be pretty self-conscious (I still am, I guess, but it’s miles better), and I found that giving myself a little alter-ego seemed to help that, so I’d try to get into the mindset of Quinn Fabray from Glee (she’s a really strong character, and she dealt with a lot on the show). I guess I’d just hope that my own child can feel comfortable with herself, too. 🙂

18 – What sports do you play/ have you played?

I’m really not that sporty. I work out alone, at home every now and then (I’ve been useless this holidays) but I guess I play tennis sometimes in the park. 🙂

19 – What phone do you currently use?

Moto E 3rd Generation (White)

20 – Tell us one of your bad habits!

Oooohhhh, I crack my knuckles a lot….. It drives my mum insane, but I just can’t help it! Anyone else who cracks their knuckles will definitely understand! 😀

And that’s all the questions answered! Onto the nominations!

A New Chapter

It’s Simply Me / Jasmine

Totally Random / Bella

Calling-all-Rush-Babes

This post has ended up pretty long, so thank you if you actually read all the way to the end without getting bored of me!

BLOLIDAYS #4 – 44 Shaving Things

It’s been a damn while since I last did one of these posts (if you’re relatively new, I sometimes do posts where I’ll list 44 things to do with a certain topic), and with it being summer, more people will be shaving than in winter, I’m assuming? Unlike me, who literally never leaves the house anyway, and wears jeans 24/7. It’s all good, though, I live in the UK so it’s never that warm anyways. 🙂

HOWEVER, with being a fifteen-year-old girl, who has to do PE in a short skort (hybrid skirt and shorts?) I’ve come up with a LOT of things that either happen or go through my head while shaving. Let’s get into it, shall we?

  1. Wondering which razor is the newest out of your many ongoing razors – does that one even work anymore?
  2. Thinking “screw it”, and taking several razors to see which one works the best once you’re in the shower
  3. Shaving cream? Hah, I’ve literally never owned any in my life. I usually end up using shower gel suds and bubbles
  4. The art of choosing a speed to shave that actually works
  5. Shaving too quickly and not taking off a single hairs
  6. Shaving too slowly and also not taking off a single hair while slowly sending you into insanity
  7. The little strip thing (still zero clue what it actually is) slowly disappearing
  8. REMEMBER TO GET BEHIND THE KNEE
  9. ANKLES ANKLES ANKLES
  10. Literally, ankles are the most problematic areas to shave, and I always end up managing to nick my skin there
  11. Damn near yoga poses trying to reach all the areas whilst keeping your balance on wet feet and slippery surfaces
  12. The ridiculous, stinging pain of the tiniest cut somewhere but you can’t seem to find it anywhere – it’s literally like finding a needle in a haystack
  13. Or the cuts that never stop bleeding???
  14. I didn’t know I had this much blood????
  15. Oh, you’re still gushing?? I’mma name you Niagara Falls!
  16. POWER THROUGH I AM A STRONG WARRIOR
  17. Only shaving the parts of your leg people will actually see 😉 😉
  18. What will actually motivate me to shave when I don’t have to wear a P.E. kit anymore??
  19. INGROWN HAIRS, I HAVE A LOT OF NASTY WORDS FOR YOU (I will refrain from using them here)
  20. When it’s been five million years since you last shaved and you look like Chewbacca’s long lost cousin
  21. And then actually getting rid of it is so difficult and takes SO LONG
  22. Putting on soft pj pants with hairless legs ❤
  23. FEEL MY LEGS GALS
  24. Feeling like a dolphin when you’re finally finished
  25. I am so streamlined I could swim faster than Phelps
  26. Lies – I definitely couldn’t I’d be like a sunken potato
  27. When you shaved reaaallllly well, and your friend also did – Rachel and I have actually stroked each other’s smooth legs before
  28. Advertisements for razors shaving the smoothest freaking legs I’ve ever seen?? uMM???
  29. Having to turn your head and strain your eyes at horribly uncomfortable angles purely so you can see your own armpits
  30. Lord knows I’m not shaving there without seeing it – I’d probably die
  31. What if I’m shaving for nothing? What if we don’t have P.E. tomorrow?
  32. One more leg to go
  33. WHOAAAHHHHH WE’RE HALF WAY THERE
  34. WHOAAAHHHHHHHH LIVING ON A PRAYER
  35. Swiping hands up and down freshly shaved legs as fast as possible, sending water flying all over the place like you’re in some sort of
  36. – honestly I don’t know what sort of anything  would involve that so I’m not even going to try
  37. The calm before the storm
  38. Aka the few hours before the razor bumps show up
  39. I AM A QUEEN
  40. Feeling like a princess walking around with your super smooth legs
  41. And then realising you missed a stripe on your shin
  42. DAMMIT
  43. Nobody will see it, right?
  44. Last but not least, this meme:

Favourite Song Lyrics

Hellooo!

I’ve had ideas brewing for this post for a while (the introduction was for Just Average Teen Me) now, so I guess you could say the kettle is whistling and it’s time to write it! I’ll be sharing some of my favourite lyrics from songs that I listen to, if you hadn’t already guessed from the title.

Also, before we get into it, they’re not in any specific order.

I’m only up when you’re not down
Don’t wanna fly if you’re still on the ground

Only Me When I’m With You, Taylor Swift

If you’re a fan of Taylor’s more pop style music, chances are you might not have heard of this song. I’m pretty sure it was from her self titled album, Taylor Swift. Anyway, it’s super cute and I just had to include it in here.

Yeah boy, your eyes could make the moon jealous

Yeah Boy, Kelsea Ballerini

I have the exact moment I heard this lyric on a WhatsApp chat, actually. On April 6th, at 11:36am, I said “Okay that’s one of the cutest lyrics I’ve ever heard” and to this day, it still is ❤

Don’t need no butterflies when you give me the whole damn zoo.

Starving, Hailee Steinfeld

Speaking of cute lyrics, this song has been one of my favourites since it was released. I’m a huge fan of Hailee and I’ve loved every one of her songs, especially this one! Nerves are obviously something everyone deals with when they have a lil crush so I’d guess you can relate to this! 😀

My body’s telling all the secrets I ain’t told you yet

Sledgehammer, Fifth Harmony

This one is definitely one of my favourites, because it’s so perfectly put together. It’s such a pretty way to say it, not to mention Sledgehammer will always be one of my favourite songs ❤

There’s always a seed
Before there’s a rose
The more that it rains
The more I will grow

Roots Before Branches, Glee Cast

Everyone needs a little lyric of encouragement every now and then, right? This one’s great if you’re going through a tough time, or if you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere.

‘Cause you look greatest when you feel like a damn queen

Most Girls, Hailee Steinfeld

I could’ve quoted the entire song, but I ended up choosing this one. If you haven’t heard it, you should definitely listen to this one! It has a super empowering message throughout, and is definitely the kind of music we need more of 😀

I should be over all the butterflies but I’m into you

Still Into You, Paramore

As the romantic that I am, the idea of still feeling like you first did with someone you’ve been with for a while is near to perfect, so this had to be in here.

Watching you’s the only drug I need

-Hey Soul Sister, Train

I mentioned this song a couple of posts ago! It’s such a feel-good one, and I’ll never get sick of it. 🙂

What are some of your favourite lyrics? Or favourite songs at the moment?

See you next time

BLOLIDAYS #3 – SUMMER HAUL

Who doesn’t love a good shopping spree? Well, besides my purse, I think most people would agree that splurging is so therapeutic, even if it only moves my worries from school life and friendship dramas to the sudden drop in my savings. 😉

A couple of weeks ago, I had a rather daring day out and managed to fill a huge Primark bag with both Primark things, and a few bits and bobs from elsewhere (that’s a lie, it was a lot of bits and bobs…).I think we should get into it!

Midnight Chitchats

Another late-night blog post – I know, it’s becoming a pattern.

You know when there’s a lot on your mind, and you kind of feel like a fizzy drink being shook up over and over again? That’s how I’m feeling at the moment, and I can’t think where else to vent about everything, since my friends are… well, we’ll get onto that at some point probably.

Where to start… What have I been up to in my extremely uneventful summer break so far? Well, I just took a break from my rather intense Warblers rave. For the uneducated folks reading, the Warblers are an a capella (no instruments) group on Glee. They’re amazing, and I think you should definitely take a little trip over to YouTube to have a peek. My favourites are Hey Soul Sister and Whistle, but there’s so many others!

In the last 5 days or so, I’ve been on a binge of Marvel films since I’d actually never seen the majority of them (I don’t know why). I’ve watched (in release order) all of the films in the same universe as Iron Man (so Thor, Captain America, Hulk, etc). It’s a lot of films to cram into such a short time, but I guess it just shows you how little I actually do with my life. 🙂

My favourite out of them all (aside from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies; I’ve loved them since they came out) would probably be Thor: The Dark World. From there, has sparked my love of Loki. Tom Hiddleston is a beautiful human as it is, but somehow the long, gelled, black hair combined with a long green cape and metal armour accelerates that. Not to mention, his humour and one-liners are hilarious, even though Drax still makes me keel over with laughter the most.

While we’re on the topic, watch this. It’s a very entertaining three minutes and sixteen seconds. 😉

Another thing that has been on my mind for some time is the idea of the future. I’m all for living in the moment and enjoying the time we have right now, but I’ll be starting Year 11 in a few weeks. As any readers in the UK will know, Year 11 is the oldest year of high school. It’s when you take your GCSEs, go to prom, have big school trips and say goodbye to everything you’ve known for the last five years as you head off to college (not university).

Truth is, I’m scared. I’m happy where I am now. Sure, my friends have their bad moods, and some lessons bore me to death, but everyone has that, right? High school has become my comfort zone but soon I’ll have a new timetable, new buildings to navigate, new friends, new group chats and new teachers. I always looked at people this age as so much older than I feel. I still feel like the same 11-year-old girl I was when I started high school, even though I’ve grown (not that much in height) so much since.

It took me so long to make friends, and finally feel like I was fitting in, and the thought of having to do that all over again is quite nerve-wracking. Fast Forward two short years after then and I’ll be going off to university, away from home, away from family, and further away from everything else that matters to me right now.

Another thing I wanted to ramble about is a current situation going on with my friends. As I’ve mentioned before, I have a group chat with Hayley, Penny and Britt. For almost the last two years, it’s been a safe place, where we can rant to each other about nearly anything that crosses our mind and nobody will get judged – at least not too much. At this point, I feel like I’m drifting away from them all, all except Hayley. Recently, it’s become a case of Penny and Britt getting annoyed with me super easily, talking about it on their own private chat, and then confronting me on the group chat.

Recently, that’s been when I messaged them about Teen Wolf. Apparently I was being “f***ing annoying” (censor for the children). What annoys me the most about that is that Penny (she said it) frequently spams us about whatever show it is that she’s watching at the time, whether it’s The Walking Dead, or Rupaul’s Drag Race and nobody has ever told her that she shouldn’t. Today, it started with a sarcastic conversation. As you’ll probably understand, it’s easy for sarcasm to be taken wrongly. At this point though, it was quite clear that I wasn’t being serious, but Penny and Britt managed to turn it against me (surprise, surprise) and then suddenly keep piling on stuff that’s been annoying them lately about me. It was almost as if they’d rehearsed it on a private chat (I know for a fact they’d spoken about it beforehand, but whether they’d planned a response, I’m not sure).

It ended up in a pretty big mess, and I said “Well, I’m sorry. I thought you guy were alright with joking like that”. Britt thanked me for the apology, but Penny replied with “Naa that isn’t an apology. It sounds so half hearted.”  At that point, I got annoyed. I had already apologised for something I didn’t even need to be apologising for, and ended up throwing more sarcasm with “do you want me to write you a card and send some flowers? Hire a singer to go with it?” followed by “Look, I’m sorry and I’ve said that, just let it slide?”. She didn’t say a thing on the chat until 4 hours later, when she said that she had nothing to say because she was watching YouTube.

It’s all a bit messy. I don’t enjoy it, but I also don’t enjoy letting other people get at me for ridiculous things. So this is where I ended up. It’s currently 00:40am, so I should definitely try to get some sleep, and I’ll probably post this in the morning 😀

Editing note: I’ve just took out a few chunks since this post was ridiculously long! If you’ve read all this, thank you – you’re the best ❤

BLOLIDAYS #2 – 7 Summer Activities

Hello and welcome to the second Blolidays post of the series! We’re two weeks into the holidays now, and about to start the third week. If you’ve got to the point where you and your friends want to meet up, but have zero clue what to do, then this post should help! I’ll put together some of the ideas my friends and I have for days out (or in) and hopefully you’ll take some inspiration!

Theme Parks

While it does involve spending money, riding rollercoasters is such a fun way to hang out with friends! One of my favourites is Blackpool Pleasure Beach, but Alton Towers comes at a close second! It’s important to consider when you’re going; you wouldn’t want to go when it’s raining (the rides might be closed) but on super hot days, the queues are ridiculously long! Settle for a happy medium!

Country Park Walks

For a free outing, you could take your friends out to the countryside. It could be a woods, or a park near where you live. Dogs are a lot of fun to bring along, and if any of your friends are aspiring photographers, it’s a great opportunity to snap some shots of the natural world! And there’s no money involved – Bonus!

Stationery Shopping

Maybe the new school year is the last thing you want to be thinking about in your time off, and if so, this one probably isn’t for you. For any of my fellow dorky friends who love having new notepads, stacks of sticky notes, freshly sharpened pencils, and rulers that are still in good shape, this one is for you! Take a trip out into town and stock up on everything you need for the 2017/2018 school year!

Movie and Takeaway Day

Who doesn’t love a good movie? I know my friends will definitely be heading over to Regina’s house at some point and using Netflix probably all day… We might even order a sneaky Domino’s takeaway – the chocolate brownies are to die for.

Cards Against Humanity

If you’ve never played Cards Against Humanity, or heard of it – let me enlighten you. In a nutshell, you have white cards and black cards: the black cards have either a question or a sentence with blank spaces, and the white cards have the answers. Each player is given ten white cards, and has to fill in the blanks on a black card, with their own white cards. Some of them get super offensive, dirty, rude and just in general, ridiculously funny. It’s bound to leave you in heaps of giggles, and is a great way to pass a rainy day!

Baking

Any cookery prodigies in your friendship group? You could head over to their house with a few others (the more the merrier) and have a day of baking cakes, pies, muffins, and whatever else your stomach is grumbling for. Feast!

Go to the Beach

It’s summer! When the weather gets hotter and the sun makes an appearance, grab your towels and head down to the seaside! Grab an ice-cream or a cone of fish and chips and press play on your beach vibes playlist, or splash around in the water if you’re feeling adventurous!

And those are some of the things I plan to do this holidays! Let me know what you and your friends will be getting up to! 😀
